Our three bedroomed, fully restored, stone farm house, known as Le Bateau de Bertignat is situated in the heart of the Parc Naturel Régional Livradois Forez, Puy de Dôme, Auvergne, France.
The house is nestled into the side of a hill and although located in a rural setting, alongside a very quiet country lane it is only a few minutes from the main road giving you easy access to the local market town of Ambert (15 minutes).

The house dates from about 1870 and is constructed in stone (granite) and pisé it is topped with a decorative red tiled roof.
The whole property has been tastefully restored over the past 5 years. It has new plumbing and electric installation and is very well insulated. Fully double glazed. The new septic tank system conforms to the latest regulations.
The walls are mainly finished with lime washed plaster. The floorboards are all new and the whole tree trunk beams add interest. The walls are very thick making the house extra warm duing the winter months and lovely and cool during the summer.

Joined onto the house is a large barn on two levels. 63 m² on ground floor plus old hay stacking area which has been re floored. The barn could easily have 2 or 3 floors. It has 2 large barn doors and a smaller door leading to the lower level (once the cow shed). We use the barn as a garage and for storage. There is great scope for expanding into the barn for extra living space if needed. There is a door leading into the house which could be opened up very easily.

The house sits on a good sized plot of land. An attractive summer house forms part of the rear of the barn, overlooking the garden, an ideal place for a sundowner.
