Key selling points
· beautiful stone farmhouse cottage
· tranquil location with mountain views
· large garden with small field attached
· attractive stone grange for conversion to home or studio
· airports at Pau and Toulouse
This is an idyllic country home with views across a valley that has not changed for centuries. Only a 1 1/2 hours drive on good roads or autoroute to Toulouse or Pau, this stone farmhouse cottage is located in the quiet hamlet of Lomne opposite a church and about 15 km from Lannemezan; a small market town with supermarkets and a wonderful weekly market. The village has a ruined castle, the quiet river Arros (fishing permitted) and wonderful walks. The area is called the Baronnies and is described by Lonely Planet as one of the last unspoilt places left in Europe.
The house was built in about 1820 and is surrounded by two areas of garden with a large walnut tree, shrubs and a large stone grange ready for conversion into living, or studio accommodation or a gite. The marble floored living room has a large, open fireplace - wood is readily and cheaply obtainable. All normal facilities are available -mains water, oil central heating, electricity, telephone, satellite TV and a sceptic tank. The kitchen includes basic appliances and the bathroom has a bath/shower but the house is in need of modernization. On the ground floor are two large bedrooms; one with parquet floor and 3 beds, the other with a marble floor and a mezzanine level, can sleep about four people, and has French windows into the garden. Upstairs is a large unconverted attic area, the grenier , which runs the length of the hose. All furniture and many fittings including ancient farm implements, satellite TV, SW radio, utensils, tools, three cycles, a tandem etc etc are included in the price.
A perfect setting for kids to explore nature (lizards, snails and deer) in a secure environment. There are numerous, excellent walks on the doorstep and plenty of sightseeing and leisure opportunities in the area; caves, mountains, lakes .
